Visiting Jackson Hole in the summer would not be complete without experiencing this fun and exhilarating combination trip. Spending a full day enjoying the best of Jackson Hole, you’ll start your day with a morning white water or scenic float. Then after a delicious lunch, you’ll embark on a horseback ride up at Spring Creek Ranch, which is located on a butte just outside of the town of Jackson.
In the morning, you can choose a white water rafting trip or a relaxing scenic float on the Snake River. With both trips, you have the opportunity to see an abundance of wildlife, including moose, elk, otter, beaver, coyote, pronghorn, deer, mountain goat, and marmots. There are 300 different species of birds in this region as well, including osprey and eagles, all indigenous to Jackson Hole. In addition to the animals and birds, the scenery is spectacular. When deciding which water adventure suits your group, consider the ages of your party, and whether you’d like to sit back and relax or enjoy the thrill of a wet and wild journey down the river.
After the morning river fun, you’ll delight in breathtaking views of the Teton Range during lunch at the Granary Restaurant located at Spring Creek Ranch.
Following lunch, you’ll enjoy a 1-hour horseback ride up to the top of the ridgeline on East Gros Ventre Butte, also known as Saddle Butte. The butte is a corridor property into and out of the Town of Jackson, adjacent to the National Elk Refuge and considered a sensitive wildlife area for mule deer and sage grouse. From atop the ridge, you’ll have 360-degree unobstructed views of the Teton Range as well as the National Elk Refuge, Gros Ventre Range and an aerial view of the Town of Jackson, WY. Along this ride, you’ll learn some horsemanship from our experienced guides, who can answer questions about the local area.
If you prefer to split this trip into two separate days, you can do the water portion one day and lunch and the horseback riding the second day. Even though this is an option, most people combine the two activities into the same day.
