Snake River Wildlife in Jackson Hole
The scenery on the Grand Teton rafting trip is absolutely majestic and breathtaking. There are many opportunities for seeing a variety of wildlife while you float.
There are over 400 species of animals that make their home in the Greater Yellowstone region. Many of these creatures live near the Snake River. We do our best on our Grand Teton float trips to get close to and admire these animals. On the land surrounding the Snake River, the animals benefit from the beautiful willows and deep water pools for feeding and swimming. This is an extraordinary habitat for these animals which includes the otter, beaver, moose, elk, pronghorn, deer, coyote and fun-loving marmots.
Birds of Snake River
Several hundred bird species inhabit the region including the majestic eagles and osprey. It’s very common to see bald eagles while rafting the Snake River. Some of the other birds that you will find are the hummingbird, blue heron, gray owl, peregrine falcon and trumpeter swan. Additionally, you’ll see many different species of butterflies and of course incredible fish including the native cutthroat trout.
We can’t guarantee that you’ll see these amazing animals on your Snake River rafting trip, but be assured that your guide will be there and use his expertise to help you spot them.
