Along the way, be sure to keep a close eye out for wildlife that frequently come down to the water’s edge. In the Greater Yellowstone region, there are over 400 species of animals, and this area is an extraordinary habitat for these animals to reside. Animals you may see include, moose, deer, elk, otters, beaver, pronghorn and coyotes. Occasionally you will also see a fun loving marmot.
This region is also home to several hundred bird species. Quite often you will see bald eagles or ospreys soaring high above. If you get really lucky, you’ll experience one swooping down onto the river to catch its prey. Other birds frequently seen are blue herons, peregrine falcons, hummingbirds, grey owls and trumpeter swans.
On a quiet stretch of the Snake River, try and spot a cutthroat trout or whitefish through the crystal clear waters of the Snake River. Quite often they can be seen lazing on the bottom of the river. While we cannot guarantee you will see any of these animals on your Snake River float trip, your experienced guide will be using his expertise to try and locate these for you on your trip.
